If you like to use transparent colours and paint in washes you could get away with them, but at the expense of having a lot of filler in your paint which may or may not be durable in the long haul. I paint super thin so a tube will last me forever, and the color sets with the smaller sized tubes work best for me to be able to try new colors without committing to fun sized tubes.
